Balance Sheet

Scope: 'I used to write a blog, but have left, there is no time!” ; 'I was a trained Kathak dancer, but left it for CA, after all there are only twenty four hours in a day’; 'I was in a band and then CA happened'. This is a column for all those people who are super humans and not bound by any excuse. These people have managed to pack a lifetime of opportunities in the same number of hours as we have. We aim to cover those Chartered Accountants who have earned money, respect and self-satisfaction on the capital side of their ‘Life’s Balance Sheet’, and also have been able to keep their passion alive and developed it into an asset. We hail these people for setting an example and showing us how to strike a work- life balance.

StartUp CAs

Scope: Practice or Job? These two were the only available options of the yesteryear. Today's the time to call for risk. What is that one thing which is synonymous with risk, it is a 'Start up'. This section covers the brave as well as the unconventional CAs, who have gone against the tide and have created something unique for themselves. They are the torch bearers of innovation and experimentation, opting for the path less traveled.

Requirements: The person has to be a Chartered Accountant who has dared to jump the line and venture into its own ‘Start Up’. Articleship

Scope: They are carbon on the brink of turning into diamond with a present market value of gold. These are CA aspirants who are not only brilliant in studies (pursuing CA makes us brilliant by default.. haha) but know how to preserve their passion. They are the future Balance Sheet stars.

Requirements: The person has to be a CA final student possessing special talent in the field, he/she is passionate about. CA for Change

Scope: In the end it is about 'Being Human'. It is about making an effort to make our society a better place to live in. It is about recognising the humanitarian effort of our fellows. It is not about a thousand or even ten people, even if we can make a difference in one person's life, the goodness spreads. The section tries to give recognition to people from our fraternity, who give their time and invest their energy into a cause they believe in- whether it is fighting for a cause, spending time with street kids, teaching them, or taking care of stray animals. These people inspire us, sending a message that we can work our way out towards a better tomorrow.

Requirements: The person has to be a qualified CA or CA student who has committed his/her life towards society and its people. Audit Trail

Scope: How many times have our family told us that we treat our house like a guest house, because all we do is to ‘check in’ at night and ‘check out’ early morning for the next audit assignment. Each time when we leave our house and go to an audit place, we know that a new drama will unfold. That we will bring back some fond and some not so fond memories. We will taste some new dishes, meet some new people and travel to some places never visited before. This section provides us an opportunity to share our own Audit trail with the world. So basically, go nostalgic, give your memory a jog and share your story with us.

Requirements: CAs or CA aspirants can send in their personal experiences of audit or any other related travels, in the form of a write up to ‘editor@cadiaries.com. Journal Entry

Scope: This was a quintessential column because financial books can't be complete without our favourite ‘Suspense accounts' and 'Miscellaneous accounts'. This section will cover the intriguing persons and articles related to our profession. Any unusual/weird hobby you might have, for example- train spotting or have an interesting thought/ story to share , we have roofed it all under this section.

Requirements: CA or CA aspirants can send in a write up to ‘editor@cadiaries.com’ about their unusual/weird hobby, some life changing experience or just about anything and everything. Please be wary of grammar and punctuation. Do not use the privileges of technology by plagiarizing content. It should not be more than thousand words. Dummy Corner

Scope: Let's add a bit of humor in our otherwise mundane life. Laugh a little, live a little, with this thought in mind we included this column.

Requirements: Share the funny situations that you face or have observed in your office, coaching or client place. You can send us your sketch at 'editor@cadiaries.com' and if you have enough material we can even have it in a series format. Can't draw? No worries, send us a rough draft of the joke and how u want to see it, our in house experts will work on it.

10 Things About CA

Scope: Think of a doctor and a stethoscope comes to your mind, a lawyer and you see a black coat, a journalist and a khadi kurta and so there are a lot of things that we and the world associates with us, wantingly or unwantingly. 10 things talks such such commonalities that we as a fraternity have, whether it is ten things that we always do on our audit place or ten things that we do before exams. So share your observations and make the fraternity connect the dots.
